CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE
The wood and furniture industry faces issues related to the management of natural resources. By implementing intelligent systems and new production processes, European SMEs can optimize usage of raw materials, improve their waste management and contribute to the development of a circular economy. These responsible practices can be recognized and improved through certifications, labels and environmental management systems. This digital and green transition however will not be implemented if staff among the value chain does not acquire the right knowledge and skills on the value offered by industry 4.0 in developing more sustainable management practices.
In the last two years, European partners from Erasmus+ project Intrust (www.intrust-project.eu) have deep dived into the topic of the twin transition to develop a dedicated elearning course aiming at equipping the industry workforce with the right knowledge on sustainability practices, environmental certifications and industry 4.0 technologies.
In this final event, circular economy expert Ecores will introduce the results of the project and share perspectives with key stakeholders of the industry on the future of sustainability and circularity in the forest and furniture value chain.
